Cairns, Australia

We got to go out for our first trip to Cairns, Aus. It is only a 2 hour flight from Timika, so it was a quick 5 day trip. Cairns is very beautiful and reminds me a little of some of the beach cities in California. The girls had a great time swimming in the Lagoon, a huge public wading pool with a beach style entry.
It happened to be Chinese New Year, so we got our pictures taken with endless numbers of Asian tourists. I could have sold tickets! We also went on a boat trip to beautiful Green Island, which is on the Great Barrier Reef. Reagan and Gary did a little snorkeling, then unfortunately we got rained out!
Our hotel was right on the Esplanade, and as shown in the picture, overlooked the ocean. We did lots of walking, shopping, eating and swimming. It was very hot. The highlight of the trip was a stop at the Hartley Crocodile Farm. Those crocs were huge! We also got to see kangaroo, wallabies, koala bears (zonked out!), cassowary birds and snakes. The girls really enjoyed it. I can't wait to go back and have told Gary to start looking for a job there! ha ha

Great pictures. Glad to hear you guys are having fun and getting out a bit. The girls look like they are growing up fast. The weather there looks much nicer than here (snowing hard right now). You guys take care and stay in touch. Josh
