Paige's Learning Journey

These are pictures of Paige's Learning Journey at school. The preschool students were given an opportunity to show their parents around the classroom. Paige had a clipboard with each "station" listed on it. She took me to each area and showed me her work and what she does there. Her favorites are the Listening Center (where they use headphones and listen to stories), and Science. Right now they are learning about how our choices effect the environment. She has been asking me at home: "Mom, can we reuse or recycle this ziplock bag?" She also commented on the way the livingroom was rearranged: "Mom, by moving the furniture, you choosed to change the environment." Wow. In the picture where she is pointing, she is showing a map they made as a class of the playground. The students identified where garbage cans (rubbish bins) were needed to help keep trash off the playground.

Backyard

We now have our little backyard kind of fixed up for the kids. The weather can be nice and sunny in the morning, so they have enjoyed playing out there--building a "swamp" for the dinosaurs and making fairy houses. Gary is working on building me a greenhouse and we have already started some veggies. (Hooray for salad!)
We got a sandbox and a swing in Australia. Blaire spends lots of time in the swing, as the ground is mushy and wet all the time so I don't let her crawl around too much. Plus there are many slugs to snack on and I try to discourage that! Yum

S'mores

Now that our sea container has arrived, we are making s'mores every chance--even in the rain. Graham crackers and marshmallows have to be brought in from the US or Australia, but we have a good stash right now. We are all glad Gary decided to bring his handy fire pit.
